by posted 04/01/2014

SA Hockey and Massachusetts Hockey are proud to host the 10th Annual USA Disabled Hockey Festival to be held April 11 - 13, 2014.

The Festival takes place in different parts of the country each year. In 2014 the Festival will be held at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough Massachusetts. The center contains 6 NHL size rinks, snack bar, skate shop, and plenty of lounging space. The mission of the Festival is to provide a fun and exciting weekend of hockey in a grand event as well as to promote and grow disabled hockey throughout the country.

The USA Disabled Hockey Festival is the largest disabled hockey event of its kind. It brings together all the disciplines, Special Hockey, Sled Hockey, Standing/Amputee, and Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

In Special Hockey we will have three (3) divisions (A, B, C). We will use classification forms to help identify each teams skill level.

In Sled Hockey we will have 2 divisions for Youth (intermediate and advanced) and a 3 divisions for Adults (eight team National championship division) , an open A (advanced) and an open B (intermediate).

The Standing Amputee Discipline will be just one division of veterans and players with amputations that play upright.

The Deaf/Hard of Hearing Discipline will compete in games during the Festival against local teams from the immediate vicinity and will include an educational component.

The Festival will begin the morning of Friday April 11 and continue until early afternoon on Sunday April 13. On Friday evening there will be a game of the Boston Bruins alumni followed by a dinner dance/social for all participants, families and friends.

The nearest major airport is Boston’s Logan International Airport which is about 30 miles from the New England Sports Center.

Below is a list of the approved Host Hotels.  It is imperative that all teams stay at one of thse hotels.  Teams that do not stay at a Host Hotel will be will be required to pay an additional $1,000 registration fee.
